Wolverhampton Wolverines Australian Rules Football Club
The Wolverhampton Wolverines Australian Rules Football Club are Wolverhampton's first and only Aussie Rules Football team, established in 2009 by current Coach and President, Ian Mitchell.
The Wolverines first season was ran as a social season, playing friendly games against other teams in the then AFL Central and North West England league, before playing their first full season in a competitive league in 2011. Two other new teams have since followed this model and are now fully league-eligible clubs.
Since then, the Wolverines have enjoyed 5 full seasons in competitive footy playing against teams from Birmingham, Nottingham, Manchester, Sheffield, Huddersfield, Leeds, Newcastle and Liverpool. Club players have also been selected for the West Midlands Tigers team in the annual Brit Cup tournament, a competition involving the best British players in the country representing their respective regions, the England Dragonslayers national team, the Great Britain Bulldogs national team, The British Isles representive side and the European Legion representive side. We have also had a club member play for the womens national teams and recently won the prestigious Euro Cup in Croatia.
The Wolverines are a family-orientated club with parents, partners and siblings always helping out on match day and cheering on the side. Anyone is always welcome to join the club in any capacity, whether it be playing, coaching, umpiring or volunteering.
