Wolverhampton Wolverines (and several Scorpions) traveled up to Glasgow last weekend to compete in the Haggis Cup which is an annual tournament hosted by the Glasgow Giants.
On the day of the tournament the majority of the team felt a little worse for ware following the night before after a long train journey up and doing the only thing you can do on a train with your team mates....drink.
However, despite the players' conditions (hungover and tired) this didn't stop the Wolverines putting out a top display throughout the group stage with wins against Edinburgh Bloods, Glasgow Sharks and Kingdom Kangaroos and a loss against Wandsworth Demons 2 which got them into the Semi-Final against Wandsworth Demons 1.
Despite energy levels low Wolverines dominated the Semi-Final against one of London's AFL teams, Wandsworth Demons 1 and would compete for the Haggis Cup Trophy in the Final against Wandsworth Demons 2 who they previously lost to in the group stages.
Wolverines gave everything they had left in the final and were ahead after the first half. However Demons reacted in the second half with several goals in quick succession which was enough to get back on top and win the Haggis Cup Final.
Wolverine's Sophie Morris returned from injury to play for the Nottingham Scorpions Women's Team which saw them winning the Haggis Cup final against Wandsworth Demons.
The Wolverines can only take positives from this tournament with every player giving their all on the pitch and earning a well deserved cold beer that evening.
